The Toronto Island photo workshops are for beginners and intermediate level photographers. Your instructor will not only take you to amazing locations, but also assist you in understanding various photographic techniques and your own equipment to to enable you to capture the best images that the Toronto Islands has to offer.
Groups are always small (6 people or less), and as every person is (and very much should be) different, we will help you develop your own style - if your passion is to take abstract images of green beetles, we will do our best to help you achieve your vision.
During the workshop we will walk to a number of locations and discuss techniques and concepts, The instructor will provide personalized and patient photography advice and feedback.
These tours allow you to capture the beauty of the island while learning new skills in a relaxed environment.
During the day on toronto island you will:
Learn how to get the most from your equipment. You will be out of auto mode and mastering techniques like controlling depth of field, image brightness (under/over exposing) and choosing optimal focal lengths.
During the workshop we will take a few extended exposure images. This technique results in blurring anything that is moving in the frame, including water, clouds and people.
We will experiment taking images using the epic Toronto skyline as a background to other subjects and exploring many other compositional ideas.
Taking a picture of clouds while aiming your camera down might seem counter-intuitive, but it can create some cool results.
Lots of them on the Islands.
There are a number of different types of animals and birds on the island. A long lens and the correct shutter-speed will help you capture great images of wildlife.
